Racial disparities in home loan pricing
September 19, 2007 (posted by ElektroMoose)A new report from the National Council of La Raza and the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals reveals that Latino home-buyers are frequently offered higher-than-normal loans. The report suggests that this fact may be due to the wide-spread problem amongst Latino home-buyers of inadequate credit histories and/or other similar documentation.
In similar news, the Los Angeles Times recently reported that African Americans and Latinos are much more likely than Whites to receive high-cost refinancing loans. The report was based on the recently released 2006 HDMA data.
